Softball Ends First Day of NCAA Play with Exciting Win
The Salem College softball team began their NCAA era with an exciting come from behind victory against William Peace University in the second game of the double-header. Salem College President Susan Pauly started off the day by throwing out the first pitch to Amber Bass (Clinton, NC). After losing the first game 2-0 to the Pacers, Salem used a 12 run inning to erase a 12 run deficit on route to winning the second game 19-18. Salem's record currently stands at 1-1, and Peace holds a 3-3 record.

Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) became the first student-athlete from Salem to ever receive All-South Region Honors for her play this season with the soccer team. She was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III South Atlantic Third-Team. The NSCAA South Atlantic Region stretches from New Jersey to Mississippi.

Soccer Earns 2011 NSCAA Team Academic Award
The Salem College soccer team was awarded the 2011 Team Academic Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). To receive this honor, a soccer team must have above a 3.0 cumulative grade point average for an entire school year (2010-2011).
