Concert on November 10; Master Class on November 11
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (NOV. 2, 2023)—The Salem College School of Music will present a piano performance on Friday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public and will take place in Salem’s Shirley Recital Hall, located inside the Elberson Fine Arts Center at 412 Rams Drive in Winston-Salem.
The performance will feature world-renowned pianist Sara Davis Buechner. A visionary in her field, Buechner is lauded for her originality, integrity, intelligence, dazzling virtuosity, and “thoughtful artistry in full service of the music,” according to The Washington Post. Earlier in Buechner’s career, she received top prizes in international competitions including a Bronze Medal in the 1986 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and Gold Medalist in the 1984 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. She is noted for commissioning important works by leading contemporary composers and for her unique collaborations with film and dance groups.
As a proud transgender woman, Buechner also appears as a speaker and performer at important LGBTQ events and has contributed interviews and articles about her own experience to numerous media outlets worldwide.
Additionally, Buechner will offer a Master Class on Saturday, November 11 from 10 a.m. until noon.
