Program Manager and Teaching Fellow for Soar with Salem
Soar with Salem is a comprehensive program to inspire women and girls to become the next generation of STEM professionals. The program is funded through the NASA Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM), Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP). Salem Academy and College is one of seven women’s colleges in the United States chosen for participation in this grant. Funding for the Program Manager position is provided by this grant and only available for the duration of this grant.

Position Summary For Program Manager:
The Program Manager for Soar with Salem will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive STEM enrichment program aimed at high school girls from North Forsyth High School who are mentored by students from Salem Academy and College. This role requires a dynamic and experienced individual who can work collaboratively with educators, students, and community partners to enhance STEM learning and inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This position will also entail teaching one or more courses each semester.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
- Supervise the scheduling of program staff, including educators, students, and interns.
- Oversee the evaluation process (surveys and participant feedback) for programming and activities
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Assist with financial paperwork including, but not limited to, check requests, materials ordering, invoicing, budgetary record keeping etc.
- Assist with Grant paperwork needs including, but not limited to, participant liability forms, student intern background checks, photo releases, etc.
- In coordination with the PI and Co-I, oversee the collection of materials and organization of the Soar with Salem Guidebook.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on program activities, outcomes, and impact.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and funding requirements.
- Oversee time sheets for interns, educations, and student participants.
Partnerships and Outreach:
- Establish and maintain relationships with partner schools, community organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with North Forsyth HS to secure participants for the program.
- Represent the program at community events, meetings, and conferences.
Student Engagement and Support:
- Create a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
- Implement strategies to engage and retain North Forsyth students in the program.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students
- Oversee scheduling and support needs for programming designed for student families.
Bridge Programming Support
- June Camp for rising 12th grade students at North Forsyth HS
- Coordinate te meals and snacks
- Coordinate transportation logistics
- Coordinate scheduling of speakers and oversee needs during presentations
Teaching
- This position offers the opportunity to teach at least one course a semester. Likely courses are Introduction to Health Leadership and Career Explorations in Health Science
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Education, STEM fields, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting.
- Strong understanding of STEM education and current trends in the field.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience working with high school students from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Teaching experience is preferred
- Spanish language skills preferred but not required
