Softball splits with Agnes Scott on the road
The Salem College softball team split a doubleheader with Agnes Scott for the 2nd time this season in Great South regular season action. The Spirits cruised to a 5-0 win in game 1, and they dropped a 9-5 decision in game 2. The Spirits remain in 3rd-place in the GSAC going into the final week of regular season play. The Spirits are now 5-5 in the GSAC and 8-18 overall, while Agnes Scott is 8-4 and 13-9.
Softball sweeps Covenant on the road
The Salem College softball team dominated Covenant on the road in a two games of Great South action. Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) and Lexi Perez (Mount Ulla, NC) were both red-hot from the plate. The Spirits improve their GSAC record to 4-4 and 7-17 overall, while Covenant falls to 1-7 and 2-22.
Softball falls on the road against Guilford
The Salem College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Guilford College today in non-conference play. Guilford won both games in 5-innings. They took game one 9-1 and game two 16-4. The Spirits drop to 5-17, while the Quakers improve to 14-12.
West Stokes High's Smith commits to play softball at Salem
The Salem College softball team is excited to announce that Lauryn Smith has committed and deposited to attend Salem next fall. Smith played softball for Coach Andrew O’Neil at West Stokes High School in King, NC. The Salem softball team is currently in 3rd place in the Great South Athletic Conference regular season.
Softball drops two non-conference games at Emory and Henry
The Salem College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Emory & Henry in non-conference action. The Wasps won the 1st game 14-5 and the 2nd game in 5 innings 11-3. The Spirits are now 5-15 overall, while the Wasps improve to 8-8.
Softball splits with Covenant behind shutout by Watkins
The Salem College softball team split a doubleheader with visiting Covenant College today in Great South conference play. The Spirits lost the 1st game 9-2, before Allie Watkins (Locust, NC) pitched a 7-inning shutout in a 6-0 win by Salem. The Spirits improve to 5-13 overall and 2-4 in the GSAC, while the Scots drop to 2-14 and 1-1.
Garner selected as GSAC Softball Player of the Week for 2nd Time
Kierston Garner of Danbury, N.C. hit .643 (9-for-14) with one double, 2 home runs, 6 runs batted in, 4 runs scored, 4 walks and a slugging percentage of 1.067 for the weekend. Defensively she had 15 Assist, 3 Put Outs and 1 Error for a fielding percentage of .947.
Softball loses two at home to Randolph
The Salem College softball team lost two non-conference games against Randolph College. After falling behind 7-0 in the 1st game, the Spirits rallied back to fall just short (8-6). In the 2nd game, Randolph pulled out an 8-2 win. Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) and Kierston Garner (Danbury, NC) continued their hot play with each having 4 hits on the day. Salem falls to 4-12 overall, and Randolph improves to 15-3.
Softball rips Agnes Scott in Game 2 of doubleheader
After dropping game one 13-3 to Agnes Scott, the Salem College softball team stormed back to defeat the Scotties 13-6 in game two. Kierston Garner (Danbury, NC) went 4 for 4 in game 02 with 4 runs batted in to lead the Spirits. Salem improves to 4-10 overall and 1-3 in the Great South, while Agnes Scott drops to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the GSAC.
Softball drops two non-conference road games
The Salem College softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader today at LaGrange. The 1st game went into extra innings with the Panthers scoring in the bottom of the 8th for the 8-7 win. The Panthers won 12-4 in a 5-inning 2nd game. The Spirits are now 3-9 overall, while LaGrange improved to 4-0.
