Michael Williams

Director of Athletics

Professional and Community Leadership Expertise and Experience

With over two decades of experience in collegiate athletics, I have built a distinguished career as both a women’s basketball coach and athletic administrator. As a coach, I’ve had the honor of winning an NCAA Division III National Championship and mentoring All-American student-athletes. In my administrative roles, I successfully generated over $2 million in support of athletics, driving growth and enhancing department operations. Beyond my institutional roles, I am deeply committed to the professional development of others—mentoring emerging coaches and administrators, advising institutions on executive searches for key athletic positions, and facilitating strategic planning initiatives to strengthen athletic departments. My work reflects a passion for leadership, community building, and advancing excellence in sports and education.

Salem Through My Eyes

Salem is a truly special place—one that deserves a prominent position in today’s world. It stands as a beacon for educating and empowering women, preparing them to lead with confidence, purpose, and integrity. What sets Salem apart is its unwavering commitment to student success. From the classroom to the community, Salem cares deeply about supporting each student’s journey, ensuring they are equipped not only with knowledge but with the resilience and leadership to make a meaningful impact in the world.

Fun Fact:
I’m a huge animal lover, and my dog Kobe and I enjoy exploring the outdoors together. We’re always up for a good walk or hike. When I’m not outside, you’ll likely find me enjoying the arts. I’m an avid fan of musicals and Broadway, and I love the energy, creativity, and storytelling that live theater brings to life.
