Salem Through My Eyes
I came to Salem as a high school senior because I knew I needed something more for my education. Salem was the first time I felt smart. I was valued for my opinions, ideas and skills. We read literature without being told what to think but were encouraged to form our own learning. I’ve carried that love of learning throughout my life. This reverence for Salem eventually brought me back to these hallowed halls. Now as a Salem professor, I seek to treat my students with the same respect for their intelligence, originality and gifts. After almost 35 years, there is no place I would rather spend my teaching career.
Fun Facts
- I love to learn. When traveling across the world, I seek adventures that let me experience the history, culture and people in each place.
- If I could, I would be a student for the rest of my life — as evident in the many degrees I hold and still seek.
- I love to help others problem solve to find their voice and path. Coming from a large family with seven siblings, I understand what it means to find yourself in a crowd, to stand out from the rest and to nurture those who rely on you.
