Joshua Waldron
Salem Community Music School Teacher
Joshua Waldron grew up in Virginia and moved to Winston-Salem to attend UNCSA for both high school and college, where he studied piano with Eric Larsen. During this time, he also attended summer programs at the Boston Conservatory, Interlochen, and Meadowmount School of Music, where he performed solo as well as chamber music.
In addition to the piano, Joshua explores his creative side primarily through electroacoustic music, an interest that led him to attend the Institute of Sonology at The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, Netherlands, to pursue courses in electronic music composition. As a composer and improviser in electroacoustic music, he has performed in The Hague, Berlin, and Leipzig, as well as Lincoln Center in New York City.
He is currently getting his Master of Music in Piano Performance and Injury Preventive Technique from Salem College with Dr. Barbara Lister-Sink. He has been teaching piano to all ages for over 15 years, and his students have attended the Summer Piano intensives at UNCSA as well as been accepted to the piano program at UNCSA.
“As a teacher, my goal is to develop the student’s musical imagination and to provide them with a reliable, healthful technique that will serve them for as long as they continue to play.
