Salem College automatically considers all admitted students for merit scholarships. First-year students may earn the Trustee Award, Presidential Scholarship, Arbor Award, Founders Award, or Spirit Award. These are four-year merit-based tuition scholarships valued between $16,000-$20,000 a year depending on high school GPA.
Transfer students are eligible for the Dean’s Award based on their college GPA. The Dean’s Award ranges between $16,000 and $18,000 a year.
Salem provides a limited number of full tuition or full cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room, and board) scholarships to particularly strong applicants. Among these scholarships are the Chatham, Elberson, Kick, Womble, and Whitaker, Davis Art scholarships.
In addition to these merit scholarships, generous donors have provided dozens of scholarships for students with particular interests and abilities. To learn more about those scholarships, consult the Salem College catalog.
This innovative award provides up to 100% coverage of tuition and fees for North Carolina resident applicants who are Pell eligible. Priority for the Salem Promise will be given to students who have completed admission application and FAFSA by March 1.
