The Salem College Community Music School offers excellence in music education designed to provide students of diverse ages and backgrounds with knowledge and skills to realize their musical goals and dreams.
Originally known as the Preparatory Division of the Salem College Music Department, the Community Music School has offered hundreds of students the opportunity to study with highly-qualified, professional musicians for over 50 years. We strive to continue this tradition, with 85% of our faculty holding advanced degrees. The legacy of musical artistry, educational excellence, and personal development built here at Salem continues to support students today.
Many of our students have received recognition, awards, and other honors. Select students have received scholarships to colleges, universities and summer music programs. Some have chosen to pursue advanced degrees and training in music and have become professional musicians or music educators.
