Meet Vavina Lapham, C’ 25


Vavina Lapham Embarks on Graduate Studies in Architecture
Vavina, a 2025 graduate of Salem College, has been accepted into the Master of Architecture program at Arizona State University. Based on the strength of her design portfolio, she was admitted into the program’s two-year online track and is currently pursuing her graduate degree while working as an Architectural Drafter at Builder Plan Source in King, North Carolina.
While at Salem, Vavina majored in Design with a Concentration in Interior Design, building a strong foundation in creative problem-solving and technical skills. She earned both the Fundamentals and Advanced Revit Certificates of Completion and was honored with the Katherine B. Rondthaler Award for Design, recognizing her dedication to excellence and innovation.

For her senior showcase, Vavina collaborated with Happy Martin Interiors, the Historical Society of Salisbury, and Looking Glass XR on a preservation-focused project centered around the historic Lincoln School in Salisbury. Her architectural plans were submitted as part of the Historical Society’s grant funding efforts, offering a meaningful opportunity to connect design with community impact and historical preservation.
Reflecting on her journey, Vavina shares:
“It is never too late to learn something new or to follow a dream. Growth has no expiration date. This journey has reignited my passion and drive, and I am truly excited for what the future holds in design, where creativity, history, and innovation intersect.”
