Meet Logan

Logan Rost

Logan Rost: Salem Was a Remarkable Place

Logan Rost, ND, MPH, CHES® (C’13), was born in rural middle Tennessee. Recruited by Salem College’s soccer team and awarded the prestigious Lucy Hanes Chatham full-tuition academic scholarship, Logan initially had questions about attending a small college. Although Logan was at first hesitant to attend a small college, Salem’s size ended up being one of the things she valued most about her college experience.

Today, Logan is a Naturopathic Doctor and Public Health Professional in Pateros, Washington and appreciates the science faculty at Salem for her undergraduate study. She also is a proponent of Salem College’s Health Leadership focus.

“I think that as there is more and more demand for healthcare workers (as well as increasing struggles in the healthcare field), making health leadership a focus will be helpful in fostering compassionate and determined students who are ready to tackle the healthcare challenges we face today,” Logan said.

“While I enjoyed and appreciated my classes and professors at Salem, a lot of my growth as a person happened because of the people I met while at Salem and the friendships I formed while there,” she added. I have so many fond memories, but I will say that the shared experiences of Fall Fest chaos have to be some of the most vivid and fun memories I have.”

Among Logan’s favorite memories of Salem’s campus are the times she spent at Salem Square, God’s Acre, and the library. She also gives Salem College credit for preparing her for a career as a physician and public health professional.

“Due to the small size of Salem classes, I wasn’t able to ‘hide’ behind other students in class. Because of this, I started to learn to use my voice more and not be quite so shy about speaking up when it is important to do so, Logan said. A lot of my passions in healthcare and public health stem from the lessons I learned from my colleagues and friends at Salem, as well.”

“For me, Salem was a remarkable place,” she said. A lot of learning and growth occurred at Salem for me, and I would not be the person I am today had I not spent those four years at Salem College.”
