Salem Scholars Program

In Fall 2024, up to 15 incoming first year students who aspire to be leaders in health, have outstanding backgrounds, and have a weighted GPA of 4.0 or better, will be offered the Salem Scholars award. Salem Scholars receive full tuition for 4 years, funded by a grant to Salem College, as well as a number of special opportunities, including:

  • Health-focused study abroad and study away are included
  • Nationally renowned health leader mentors from day one
  • Health co-curricular experiences such as clinical tours and film series
  • Weekly wellness programming
  • Cohort classes with other Salem Scholars

Requirements

Salem Scholars will have a number of special experiences as a cohort and must live on campus (other than during study abroad/study away) all four years to continue to receive the scholarship. Salem Scholars must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. The Salem Scholar award is applicable only toward tuition (valued at in excess of $120,000 over four years), and selected Scholar-specific experiences. It is not applicable to the cost of room and board.

Application

To be considered as a Salem Scholar, once you have been accepted to attend Salem College in Fall of 2024, use the form below to submit an answer to the following question (in 300 words or less): If you had $1 billion dollars to solve any health challenge in our society, what would you want to solve and how would you propose to solve it?
Essays are due within 10 days of receipt of the invitation to apply.
