Salem College to Offer Animal Nutrition Course This Summer

Build a strong foundation for a future in veterinary medicine this summer with Salem College’s fully online Animal Nutrition course. Designed for aspiring veterinarians and animal science students, this course will explore the science behind animals’ dietary requirements for growth, function, and thriving. 

The course will be taught by Dr. Katie Fanning, DVM, a practicing veterinarian and animal welfare leader, through engaging asynchronous content that connects science to real-world applications. Topics covered in the course include: Gastrointestinal anatomy across species, nutrients and their functions, animal digestion and metabolism, and the role of nutrition in animal disease. 

The course runs June 29 – August 1, 2026, and students will receive 3 credit hours. Registration is now open*.
