
Salem Academy and College Hosts Panel Discussion in Collaboration with Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum
Winston-Salem, NC (June 3, 2025) – Salem Academy and College announces a special event in collaboration with the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum. The panel discussion titled “Women’s History is American History,” will be held on Tuesday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the Shirley Recital Hall in the Elberson Fine Arts Center at Salem Academy and College.
The discussion will delve into the essential role women have played in shaping American history, highlighting stories that are often untold or overlooked.
The panel features distinguished speakers including Summer Hamilton, Digital Community Partnerships Specialist at the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum; Gwynne Taylor, Past Chair of the Board of Trustees at Salem College; Katherine Knapp Watts, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Salem Academy and College; and Virginia Hart, Tri-Chair of Salem Academy and College’s “Be Remarkable” Campaign.
“We are honored and proud to partner with the Smithsonian to highlight women’s history because Salem’s history is women’s history. Here in our area, the Single Sisters of Salem are the foundation not only of Salem Academy and College but also of our city,” said Katherine Knapp Watts, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Salem Academy and College.
