Salem College Announces Hollywood Actor Celia Weston as 2025 Commencement Speaker

Winston-Salem, NC – Celia Weston C’70, accomplished Hollywood actor and talented storyteller, will deliver the commencement address for Salem College’s 2025 Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 10, 2025. She will also receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters at the ceremony. 

Celia Weston’s creative and glamorous acting career includes roles in film and television, where she has been widely recognized for her powerful performances. Recently, she appeared in You’re Cordially Invited, alongside Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell. Additionally, she has made notable television appearances, including roles on Modern Family, American Horror Story: Freak Show, ER, and Frasier. Celia’s acting repertoire includes over 40 movies, such as The Talented Mr. Ripley, In the Bedroom, Hulk, and The Village. She is also set to appear in the upcoming Netflix series Leanne, starring comedian Leanne Morgan.

Weston’s work is characterized by her captivating and authentic presence. A proud alumna of Salem College, Class of 1970, Weston’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of a liberal arts education and the importance of following one’s passions.
