Salem College Adds Beach Volleyball to Athletics Program, Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate New Court

Winston-Salem, NC – February 1, 2025 – Salem College is proud to announce the launch of its new beach volleyball program. To mark this exciting addition to the college’s athletics offerings, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held for the newly constructed beach volleyball court on campus on Thursday, February 13 from 12:30 pm to 2 pm.

The beach volleyball team, made up of 12 talented players, has been training hard for their first official competition this Friday and Saturday at St. Andrews, where the team will stay overnight to compete. 

The regular Salem College volleyball program has made significant strides in recent years. The team concluded a remarkable 30-6 season, capturing a share of its very first USA South Conference regular season championship and reaching the USA South Conference Tournament championship. This exciting momentum has led to the expansion of the college’s athletics with the addition of beach volleyball.

The Department of Athletics at Salem College has been under the new leadership of Michael Williams, who was appointed athletics director after a national search. Williams, who started in August, brings a wealth of experience in NCAA Division III, women’s college athletics, and independent school athletic administration. He joins Salem from John Jay College, where he served as the associate athletics director for facilities and operations.
