Undergraduate Programs
Salem College operates on a 4-1-4 calendar. A degree program normally requires four years with four courses each term and one January Term course each academic year. To qualify for a degree, a student must take at least nine of the 36 courses at Salem and at least eight of her last ten courses at Salem.
Salem College offers three degree programs to traditional undergraduate students: the bachelor of arts, the bachelor of science and the bachelor of music. A fourth degree program the – bachelor of science in business administration – is available to Fleer Center students. Every student has the option of electing a minor in addition to the chosen major.

Candidates for each degree must complete at least 36 courses for graduation. Most degrees also require that four January Term courses be included among the 36 courses, as well as two terms of non-credit physical education. A degree candidate must complete certain Salem Signature general education requirements designed to ensure a breadth of study, a major and electives. A student generally declares her major by the end of the sophomore year and works closely with her department to complete her degree requirements.
Salem College offers a variety of minors that complement academic majors. Students can choose an academic minor in addition to their chosen major, but it is not a degree requirement.
