Transfer students may be eligible for the Dean’s Award based on their college GPA. The Dean’s Award is $15,000/year.
Need-Based Aid
Salem offers extensive need-based aid as well based on the FAFSA. The 2022-23 FAFSA can be completed
online using 2020 tax information.
Salem is dedicated to admitting qualified students and working with individual families to meet financial needs. Through need-based grants, low-interest loans, work-study programs, merit-based scholarships, and payment plans, Salem makes every effort to meet financial concerns and tailor a financial aid package to suit each individual.
Salem Promise
This innovative award provides up to 100% coverage of tuition and fees for North Carolina resident applicants who are Pell eligible. Salem is ranked 4th in the nation for Social Mobility because of our outstanding record of graduating students who receive Pell grants. Priority for the Salem Promise will be given to students who have completed admission application and FAFSA by March 1.
Tuition and Fees
The tuition, fees, room, and board costs for a Salem student living on campus during the 2022-23 school year is $43,562 which includes the following fees:
- Technology fee: $300
- Student activity fee: $216
The tuition and fees for a Salem student commuting to campus during the 2022-2023 school year is $31,016.
In 2021-22, the average full-time Salem undergraduate received merit and need based aid in excess of $23,500 before any loans.
