Undergraduate programs are designed for students seeking to complete a four-year degree, either as traditional Salem College undergraduates (women) or as non-traditional students (men and women) in The Martha H. Fleer Center for Adult Education at Salem College. Upon completion of the requirements for your selected area of specialty, you will attain a bachelor’s degree as well as your initial licensure to teach in a North Carolina public school.
If you choose to pursue education at Salem College, your teacher preparation studies will be complemented by the requirements of our general studies program. We believe in maintaining a careful balance between strong liberal arts and professional studies.
During your course of study, you will collaborate with other students, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to traditional classwork, you will also participate in extensive field experiences and research opportunities. When you graduate from Salem with your undergraduate degree and your license to teach, you will be equipped to teach students in a PK-12 school setting and, more importantly, be ready to assume leadership in the exciting field of twenty-first century teaching and learning!
Initial licensure for undergraduate students is available for these specialty areas:
Traditional undergraduate students who already attend Salem College should make application for admission directly to the Department of Teacher Education and Graduate Studies on the ground floor of Main Hall.
