The mission of the Salem College Student Center is to provide a welcoming atmosphere, with quality customer service, to enhance diversity, student life, and the academic experience by providing an environment where all members of the College community can gather to participate and learn through a varied offering of co-curricular activities and experiential learning opportunities.
Students, through participation in Salem College Student Center programs, activities, organizations, and employment, will foster intellectual growth, enhance leadership development, clarify values, and develop an appreciation of a diverse community. Students, by participating in Salem College Student Center programs, activities, organizations, and employment, will foster effective communication skills, meaningful interpersonal relationships, and collaboration.
The Student Center is operational Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am – 12:00 am, Friday from 7:30 am – 12:00 am, Saturday from 9:00 am – 12:00 am, and Sunday from 9:00 am – 12:00 am while school is in session. Special hours of operation will be posted for semester and holiday breaks. After 8:00 pm Monday-Friday and 5:00 pm Saturday-Sunday, access to the building requires your Salem College ID.
The Information Desk is located on the upper floor of the Student Center. It serves as the communication link to other services in the building. Guests may stop by to receive information about the Student Center, Salem College, and the Winston-Salem area.
Popular activities in the Student Center include film screenings in the Huber Theater and weekly coffeehouse concerts in the Café. The Student Center features a Barnes & Noble College Bookstore, which offers textbooks, supplies, clothing, and gifts for purchase Monday-Friday from 9:30 am – 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm with extended hours during peak seasons.
