Public health officials have determined that daily symptom monitoring aids in identifying and preventing the spread of COVID-19. Salem will require employees reporting to campus during the virtual learning period to participate in an ongoing health screening process to support self-monitoring of COVID-19 symptoms and exposure, to identify the need for testing and quarantine or isolation, and to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The criteria for entering campus is set forth on the Daily COVID-19 Screening Checklist.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend that schools conduct widespread, asymptomatic testing and instead directs that individuals take preventive measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. During the virtual learning period, Salem will not test employees reporting to campus for the COVID-19 virus. Employees who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or who have had exposure should not report to campus as scheduled and are encouraged to be tested and must notify the Office of Human Resources for further instruction.
