A tornado/severe thunderstorm WATCH means that tornadoes and severe thunderstorms are possible. In the event of a WATCH notification, you should remain alert and make plans for where you will go to take shelter in the event of a tornado/severe thunderstorm WARNING.
A tornado/severe thunderstorm WARNING means that tornadoes or severe thunderstorms have actually been sighted somewhere within the warning area.
If you are OUTSIDE, hurry to the lowest level of a nearby building or lie flat in a ditch or low-lying area if you cannot get inside.
If you are in a VEHICLE or mobile home, get out immediately and head for safety (as above).
Stay in a safe place and wait for an “all clear” alert.
