The department is staffed with 12 employees, including a chief and captain. Student workers complement the department by assisting with lockouts and administrative duties. Officers provide campus coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. Public Safety is located on the ground level at the rear of Main Hall.
Each member of the department contributes with their area of expertise to complete a well-rounded team. Public Safety reports to the Director of Administration.
Public Safety works within the learning environment by offering specialized training programs for the Salem Community through topics such as: drug and alcohol awareness, sexual assault awareness, domestic violence, personal safety, self-defense and other programs as requested.
Each year we work within the residence halls to insure safety by training staff and residents in the areas of fire safety, internet safety and crime prevention.
