The department is staffed with a chief of public safety, captain, and security officers. Officers provide campus coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. Public Safety is located on the ground level at the rear of Main Hall.
Each member of the department contributes with their area of expertise to complete a well-rounded team. Public Safety reports to the Office of Administration.
Public Safety works within the learning environment by offering specialized training programs for the Salem Community through topics such as: drug and alcohol awareness, sexual assault and relationship violence prevention, personal safety, crime prevention, and other programs as requested.
To ensure safety in the residence halls, each year Public Safety trains campus residents and staff on crime prevention and fire response protocols.
