The work of composer, classical guitarist and electro-acoustic artist, Samuel Allen Taylor, explores the point of intersection between electronic and acoustic sound media, and the live-performance-based transformation of their qualities. After completing guitar and pedagogy studies with Aaron Shearer, and counterpoint and orchestration work with Kenneth Frazelle, Mr. Taylor immersed himself in the craft of musical composition and the intricacies of electronic media as a musically expressive instrument. Mr. Taylor resides in Winston-Salem, NC, where he works as a freelance composer, teacher, and as classical guitar instructor at Salem College, where he has helped to establish the new Bachelor of Music program in Guitar Performance.
Solo guitar and chamber music performances include: North Carolina Museum of Art (Raleigh, NC), St. John’s Art Museum (Wilmington, NC), Wofford College (Spartanburg, SC), Orange Hill Art Gallery (Atlanta, GA).
His composition, Vita, a multi-media collaboration with alban elved dance company, was recently presented at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (Winston-Salem, NC) and Emory and Henry College (Emory, VA).
