Michael Kamtman is an actor, director, teacher, and fight choreographer. In 1988 he moved to North Carolina from New York to work with the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival for his first of 15 seasons as an actor, fight captain, and fight choreographer. He taught at Salem 2001-2003, and rejoined the Salem Faculty in 2007. Since 2007 he has directed all of the theatre productions of the Salem College Pierrettes, including Once Upon a Mattress, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, The Drowsy Chaperone, Murder By Membership Only, Little Women, Once on this Island, and Damn Yankees. In addition, he teaches an acting class in the spring semester. Michael has also directed over 100 productions in the Triad, including 8 operas. He has worked with the American Singers Opera Project since 2007 and directed productions of The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte (at Salem College), The Magic Flute, and Falstaff. He holds a B.A. from Bucknell University, an M.A. from the University of Connecticut, and an M.F.A. (Directing) from UNC-Greensboro. He has taught at Davidson College, Greensboro College, Guilford College, UNC-Greensboro, High Point University, and Guilford Technical Community College.
