Update on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives at Salem Academy and College
An update on the work that has been conducted at Salem on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Dr. Maxine Guzman came to Salem College in 2014 as the Director of the Quest Center, Salem’s tutoring center for quantitative disciplines. She also teaches in the Department of Mathematics. During her time at Salem she has been an advisor for the Salem College chapter of the Association of Women in Mathematics. Dr. Guzman is a native of the Philippines and attended college and graduate school in the U.S. Her area of study in graduate school was Abstract Algebra. Her favorite mathematician is Evariste Galois, a major figure in the development of Abstract Algebra who, sadly, died in a duel at the age of 21 in 1832.
