Adjunct Professor of Piano Dr. Yong Im Lee Federle is a recipient of the Steinway & Sons Top Teacher Award for 2016. The Steinway Piano Galleries in Greensboro and Charlotte selected Dr. Federle in recognition for her outstanding instruction, leadership in piano training, commitment to her studio teaching and the greater music community.
Pianist Dr. Yong Im Lee Federle has performed numerous solo and chamber recitals throughout South America and the United States. Born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in Santiago, Chile, Dr. Federle holds a Bachelor’s Degree with High Distinction from Indiana University South Bend, a Performance Diploma and a Master’s Degree at Longy School of Music, and a Doctoral of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from UNC Greensboro.
Dr. Federle joined the music faculty at Salem College in the fall of 2016. She is also part of the piano faculty at Wake Forest University and the Assistant Director at St. Mary’s Music Academy in High Point, NC.
Dr. Federle is currently the president of the Winston Salem Piano Teachers’ Association and the Artistic Director of the St. Mary’s Music Academy Concert Series. In addition to all her other responsibilities Dr. Federle also maintains a private piano studio in Winston Salem.
