Dear members of the Salem community:

The events that have occurred around the nation in the last few days have underscored the divisions that exist within our country and have heightened tension and anxiety on our own campus. We recognize that this is a very painful time.

We wish to assure you that Salem Academy and College remains wholeheartedly committed to its core values, including embracing diversity, exemplifying honor, and developing personal accountability. We hope that our entire Salem community will take these particular values into account as we live and grow together over the coming days and months.

Please know that Salem’s leadership will always speak out against those who promote intolerance and who challenge the values of our institution. In addition, we are fully committed to the safety and security of every member of our community. The resources available on campus are listed on the new webpage created by Dean Barr’s office. Dean Barr will forward the link to you in a follow-up message. Please check the webpage periodically, because programs and resources will be added as more information becomes available.

As we continue to work together, we want to assure you of our constant care and concern for the well-being of each and every member of our community.

Yours ever,

Sallie Craig Huber

Chair of the Board of Trustees
