Dear Members of the Salem Community,
In view of the devastation that has occurred as a result of a 7.8-magnitude earthquake and a 6.7-magnitude aftershock that hit near Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, this weekend, our hearts go out to the families and friends of more than 2,500 men, women, and children who lost their lives. A number of people from the areas affected by the earthquake are members of the Salem family, and we all stand by them in their time of distress.
I have been in communication with Rev. Dr. Amy Rio-Anderson, who will organize on Salem’s campus a time of silence and prayer for the victims and their families on Tuesday, April 28. Additional details will be shared with you tomorrow.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been touched by this tragedy.
Yours,
Lorraine Sterritt
