Salem partners with Bookmarks to host Writing for Young Adults event

Salem Academy and College and Bookmarks will present a program with four bestselling and award-winning young adult authors on Monday, March 16, at 7:00 pm at the Drama Workshop in Elberson Fine Arts Center. This program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase from Bookmarks, with proceeds benefiting their Authors in Schools program. A book signing will follow the presentation.

Featured authors are: Kami Garcia, Stephanie Perkins, Brendan Reichs, and Carrie Ryan. Guests will hear these authors speak and answer questions about their novels, series, writing process, and film adaptation.

  • Kami Garcia is the #1 New York Times bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures and Dangerous Creatures novels and the author of the instant New York Times bestseller and Bram Stoker Award nominated novelUnbreakable, and the sequel Unmarked, in the Legion Series. Beautiful Creatures has been published in fifty countries and translated in thirty-nine languages. The film adaptation was released in 2013 from Warner Brothers. 
  • Stephanie Perkins has always worked with books—first as a bookseller, then as a librarian, and now as a novelist. She is the award-winning author of Isla and the Happily Ever After, Lola and the Boy Next Door, and Anna and the French Kiss.
     
  • Brendan Reichs is the New York Times bestselling coauthor of the Virals series (with his mother, Kathy Reichs, ofBones acclaim). The fifth in the series, Terminal, will be released on March 5.
  • Carrie Ryan is The New York Times bestselling author of the novel, The Forest of Hands and Teeth, a Junior Library Guild selection and an ALA Best Books for Young Adults Selection. The series has been translated into eighteen languages and is in development as a major motion picture. She is also the editor of the anthology,Foretold: 14 Tales of Prophecy and Prediction, as well as Infinity Ring: Divide and Conquer, the second book in Scholastic’s new multi-author/multi-platform series for middle grade readers.
