Dear members of the Salem community,

We are very deeply saddened to learn of the tragic shootings on the campus of Winston-Salem State University early this morning.

I have contacted Chancellor Elwood Robinson to offer our support and condolences.

We will continue to offer our support to their community in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Our Public Safety officers and our administration have been monitoring the situation very closely since the shootings occurred, and Chief Batista will keep the Salem community updated as new information becomes available.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to any support resources on our campus, including Residence Life staff, counseling services, and the Chaplain's office.

Our prayers are with our friends and neighbors at Winston-Salem State University.
