Salem College to Host Third Annual Women's Conference

Salem College’s Center for Women in Business will welcome Triad-area college students and professionals to campus for a day of professional development and networking during its third annual Women’s Conference on Saturday, November 8, 2014.

This daylong event will provide attendees the opportunity to learn and practice many of the skills that are critical to building a successful career in today’s highly competitive and ever-changing marketplace. The conference aims to foster relationships between Salem College and local professionals, while giving attendees the tools they need to be successful as they engage in their careers. Participants will learn about networking, personal branding, interview best practices, and negotiating with confidence. Every component of the event is focused on strengthening practical skills for professionalism.

This year’s conference will open with a keynote address, Current Trends Shaping Future Careers, by Sarah DaVanzo, the Chief Cultural Strategy Officer of sparks and honey, a Manhattan-based advertising firm. DaVanzo is a trendspotter and futurist to the world’s leading brands and advertising agencies. She is trailblazing a new marketing specialty called “cultural strategy,” where she is researching, designing, and creating cultural insights and methodologies.

DaVanzo has been an integrated marketing strategist for nearly 25 years and has worked internationally with many corporations, including fortune 500 companies. She has been featured on CNBC, Radio America, South Africa's Business Times, O The Oprah Magazine, and Style. sparks & honey was recently named a top 10 agency to watch by Ad Age.

Morning break-out sessions will follow the opening keynote and a career expo will be held following lunch. This is an excellent opportunity for attendees to network with professionals from numerous organizations and companies, and to learn about internships and career opportunities. After lunch, the program will invite participants to attend small format lectures, where they will be able to interact and connect with an expert in their desired career field.
