Basketball Team Finishes Regular Season 19-4

February 9, 2014

The basketball team ended their regular season on Sunday, February 9, with a win over Wesleyan. This brings their season record to 19-4, granting them their first Great South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Title. It was a season to be remembered, as the Spirits charged through a 16 game winning streak, earning them a featured story on Fox 8 News. A tough loss to The Apprentice School on February 1 did not stop the team from continuing to win their last three games of the regular season. During their last home game on February 6 against Bennett College, seniors LaSashia Connelly, Jasmine Shabazz, Satavia Taylor, and Tiffany Wildgoose were all honored at halftime. At this special game, all admissions proceeds were donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Under Coach Howard's leadership, the team will advance to the Great South Tournament as the number one seed. They play again on February 21st in Washington D.C.
