NCAA All-Region Honors Awarded to Salem College Athletes

December 5, 2014

Morgan Canepa and Taylor Norman have joined only two other athletes in Salem College history to receive the NCAA All-Region Honors. The two Salem Spirits soccer players were selected to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women’s All-South Atlantic Region Team for their play during the 2014 season.

Canepa, a sophomore from Elko, NV, and Norman, a senior from Fairfax, VA, helped lead the team to victory during the NCAA DIII Tournament for the second year in a row, with an 18-5 overall record. These tremendous athletes join Stephanie Hubbard (soccer) and Satavia Taylor (basketball), both 2014 graduates, as the only Salem athletes to earn these honors, since Salem joined the NCAA in 2008.

Canepa, a two-year starting defender, played more minutes than anyone in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) and was a Great South All-Conference Selection for the second straight year.

Norman, a four-year starting midfielder, was the GSAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. She was also named to the NCCSIA All-State Team.

The Salem Spirits soccer team is coached by Jay Callahan.
