A group of students and faculty from the Salem College dance program will participate in The American College Dance Festival on March 13-17 at UNC-Greensboro. Professors Heidi Echols and Shawn Bowman-Hicks, along with students Bronte Emery, Ariana Ayuso and Haven Mosley will be in attendance.
The students will perform a trio choreographed by Emery for the festival, which will be judged by three professional dance artists. Echols and Bowman-Hicks will teach a master class entitled “Continuous Dance!” The class uses an innovative approach to contemporary technique that involves a heightened sense of body awareness and stamina.
The American College Dance Festival Association works to support and affirm dance in higher education through regional conferences, the adjudication process, and national festivals. The Association acts as a national membership service organization to strengthen the educational network for students and faculty within the academic dance community.
