Salem students Sara Otero and Keren Salim recently participated in the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. 

The White House launched the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge in 2010, an initiative inviting institutions of higher education to commit to a year of interfaith and community service programming on campus. President’s Challenge institutions mobilize their campuses to address one of the Kennedy Serve America Act service priorities while engaging the religious and nonreligious diversity in their communities. 

Otero and Salim represented Salem among more than 400 colleges and universities from across the nation. 

“We look forward to facilitating increased interfaith cooperation and dialogue on campus through service activities, as envisioned by President Obama, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and Interfaith Youth Core founder Eboo Patel,” says Otero.
