Salem College junior Barbara Sostaita will represent the school this week at the Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s Latinos on the Fast Track (LOFT) Leadership Summit in Washington, DC. Hispanic leaders selected from college campuses across the nation will gather for the summit, held at the Securities and Exchange Commission building on Sept. 13-14.
The summit is designed to train students to be better leaders on their campuses, especially in regard to the Hispanic community. Rep. Steny Hoyer and other members of Congress will participate, as well as film director Robert Rodriguez, who will speak to the students about having a vision in their efforts.
Sostaita is an active member of Salem’s campus community. She is president of the college’s Rotaract Club and Salem College Young Americans for Liberty, and participates in other groups such as Model United Nations.
