Salem's dear friend and trustee J. Roy Davis Jr. died at his home on September 15, 2011, after a long illness.  Mr. Davis served on the Board of Trustees for six years and received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award on Founders Day 2010.  He was chairman emeritus of S&D Coffee Inc. in Concord, North Carolina, and was a generous donor to Salem.  He will be remembered for his cheerfulness and humility, by his love of life and dedication to philanthropy.  He was married to Sue Jones Davis C'55.
