Salem's Rotaract Club recently received a $17,000 grant from Rotary International and a $4,000 grant from the Winston-Salem Rotary Club. The grants will be used to cover expenses for the club's planned spring break service trip to the Dominican Republic, during which, members will spend a week building a playground for children who have physical and mental disabilities.
One of the most active organizations on campus, the Rotaract Club also welcomed 60 new members this year. Rotaract is an international organization of service clubs for college students that fosters leadership and professional development, encourages high ethical standards in business and promotes international understanding and peace.
