Several Salem students recently glazed and decorated bowls for the Second Harvest Food Bank's annual Empty Bowls fundraiser. The event, held April 27 at the Millenium Center in Winston-Salem, will include a sale and auction of the bowls, with proceeds benefitting the Second Harvest Food Bank's food distribution program. The program transports, collects, inspects, sorts and distributes donated food to nearly 400 non-profit organizations dedicated to feeding people at risk of hunger. Proceeds also benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank's Childhood Hunger programs, which feed hungry children locally.
Tickets for the event are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and include a soup and salad lunch, live music and the choice of a handmade bowl. For more information, call 784-5770.
