Salem’s interior design team was honored at the annual Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County ReStore Spaces event on Nov. 4. The team—which created a cozy-yet-chic living room for the design competition—picked up the Liberty Hardware award for best use of an item from the store.

Students led by interior design professor Dr. Rosa Otero created a room for the competition, which challenges local design teams to use items from the Habitat ReStore and Liberty Hardware to create a functional and stylish 12x12 space. During the competition, teams also vied for community votes, which raised money to benefit Habitat’s efforts in our area.

Salem is the only team to have competed in all six years of the event. During this year’s competition, the group also appeared on Fox 8, giving viewers tips on redecorating on a budget.
