Outstanding Scholar/Athletes Headed to Salem in Fall

The following outstanding soccer players and students have committed to attend Salem College this fall, according to athletic recruitment director Jay Callahan:

-Amanda Orsino was a star forward at Sauquoit Valley High School in Sauquoit, New York where she led her team to the New York Class C State Championship game this year. She was also selected as the Mohawk Valley Conference Player of the Year, and to the New York Class C All-State team as a senior.

-Mackenzie Schmidt played for years of soccer at Olentangy Orange High School in Lewis Center, OH. She was selected as a Central Ohio Soccer Coaches Association All Star as a senior, and she was also a member of the Blast Football Club.

-Alexi Saganich had a very strong four years as a midfielder and forward  at Northeast Guilford High School in McLeansville, NC. She was a four-time Mid-Piedmont All-Conference selection, and was recently selected to play in the North Carolina East-West All Star soccer game.

-Michelle Lawler had a successful career at Eastern Guilford High School in Gibsonville, NC. She also played club soccer for the Guilford United Football Club.

-Sara Otero played four strong years of varsity soccer at Viera High School in Melbourne, FL. She was selected as a Cape Coast All-Conference Player as a senior.

-Cassy Khouri played goalie for several soccer club teams in Santa Clarita, CA. She most recently played for the California Stars Premier, and was a captain for the Santa Clarita Chaos.
