All students are assigned login@salem.edu email accounts and passwords upon enrollment. Traditional freshmen receive their email account information in a letter mailed to their home address. Fleer Center students receive a letter in their campus mailbox. Access is from Salem’s Google login page: Salem Email. All students are required to check their Salem email accounts for important information. Check the Technical Support Services page for email support topics.
Each dorm room has two network connections and WiFi access for personal student computers. Each student has unlimited cloud storage via the Google Drive app for Salem’s Google Apps for Education accounts.
Salem faculty can use the Salem network to publish web sites that support their teaching activities through traditional HTML publishing, Google Apps for Education (Google Sites), or through Salem Moodle - a web-based course management system (CMS).
The library offers an online collection of databases and web sites to aid in research for a variety of subject areas in addition to the online library catalog.
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) also offer low-cost internet access to those off-campus students who qualify. This is especially relevant during the current COVID-19 crisis. Salem maintains several computer labs for access to some software for use in classes, and we’ll be delivering that software remotely in the near future. For more information on this and other ways to get low-cost, and sometimes free software, please visit our MySalem page.
