Summary

The maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining the buildings and related equipment in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.  Must be knowledgeable in general building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. The technician is responsible to the Assistant Director of Physical Plant.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist with maintaining physical plant such as boilers, chillers, and pumps.

HVAC routine maintenance and inspections.

Plumbing repairs such as faucet repairs, adjustments, and installations.

Pool maintenance as directed.

Assist with the snow removal as needed.

Must be flexible with work hours and have the ability to take 24-hour on-call duty.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Significant general maintenance experience with a minimum of five years’ experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to meet the eligibility requirements for coverage by Salem College’s automobile insurance policy.
