Salem Academy and College, the oldest continuously operating educational institution for girls and women in the country by its founding date of 1772, invites applications for Database Administrator.
The Database Administrator is responsible for managing some database and enterprise applications and systems on campus. This includes the SQL reporting, installation, integration, backup and/or restore, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of services related to these enterprise applications and their related systems, applications, and integrations. The Database Administrator is the first line of service for all Academy and College staff and faculty who need help with institutional data and records. This position will ensure that information flows between systems accurately, is stored and accessed securely, and will be responsible for correcting any discrepancies that occur. The Database Administrator must be well-versed in computer systems and equipment and services such as Microsoft SQL Server, MYSQL, Python, command line scripts, Windows Server, enterprise applications, integration techniques, etc. The Database Administrator must possess great patience and problem-solving ability, as she/he will be working closely with staff who are not familiar with database terminology. Strong communication skills are important, in order to fix issues and ensure functionality. The position will work with faculty and staff, as well as Computer Technicians, Systems Administrators, and a variety of other users and responsible parties to coordinate operation, repair and maintenance of databases, software, services, and other duties as assigned.
Owing to the nature of the position, it is considered hybrid with a combination of on-site and remote work being authorized. Remote work is limited to a portion of the total monthly work schedule. The scheduling of remote work is flexible.

While performing the responsibilities of the Database Administrator, the employee is required to sit for varying lengths of time; bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally stand, walk, and kneel and regularly ascend/descend stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; work in confined quarters; work in high places; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation, view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in an office setting.
