Salem College, a private liberal arts institution for women, seeks to fill a full-time tenure-track position beginning in August 2021. Primary responsibilities include advising undergraduates and teaching the following courses with labs: biochemistry, quantitative analysis, instrumental analysis, general chemistry, and other courses as needed in the department and college. Committee work and other forms of service are also expected. A Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry is required by the start of employment. The successful candidate must have a passion for developing students and articulate plans for a research program with limited funding to engage undergraduates. Demonstrated expertise in instrumental analysis using GC, LC, NMR, or AAS is a plus. Experience in neurochemistry, nutritional chemistry, or other health-related fields is desired. Collaboration with neighboring institutions is encouraged. The successful candidate will understand the value of a women’s college, promote inclusion, and have experience working with a diverse student body.
Please email a cover letter, a CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, a research plan, and the names and contact information of three professional references to the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Traci Porter (traci.porter@salem.edu). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
