October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). Please take time this month to support survivors at Salem College and beyond by joining our campaign to raise awareness of domestic violence, learning the warning signs of relationship violence, and participating in DVAM programs and activities available on our campus and in the community.
What do the statistics on domestic violence show us?
On average,24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States — more than 12 million women and men over the course of a year.
Nearly 1 in 3 (29%) college women say they have been in an abusive dating relationship.
1 in 3 (36%) dating college students has given a dating partner their computer, email, or social network passwords, and these students are more likely to experience digital dating abuse. Source: The National Domestic Violence Hotline
