Exercise Science: The exercise science program within the Department of Exercise Science and Wellness reflects our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our students. Reflecting our program’s mission to develop each student’s unique potential as they prepare to change the world, our majors and minor:
Unite scholarly inquiry with action. Courses provide a strong foundation in the sciences and a varied exploration of the psychosocial aspects of exercise and sport, which is often missing from undergraduate exercise science curricula. Students are required to put their knowledge into action during internships and have options to perform service in the community while applying disciplinary knowledge.
Welcome diversity and investigate social justice issues in the field. Physical activity opportunities are unequally distributed throughout the United States and globally. Physical activity plays key roles in health and wellbeing. The ability to advocate for sport and exercise equity sets our students apart.
Explore exercise and sport through the female lens. Physical activity, exercise, and sport are often experienced from a masculine point of view, even though men’s and women’s experiences moving their bodies are different. Students gain insight into themselves and others as they examine human movement through the female lens.
