Exercise Science: Learning outcomes, program goals, and activities in the Exercise Science Program within the Department of Exercise Science and Wellness reflect the program’s core focus on 1) a rigorous education in the sciences to better prepare students for graduate school and exercise science positions, 2) more coursework on the psychosocial aspects of exercise and sport than typically found in exercise science programs, and 3) exploring exercise and sport through the female lens. These goals and outcomes also directly reflect Salem College’s mission, values, and vision.

Wellness: The mission of the Wellness Program within the Department of Exercise Science and Wellness is to improve students’ understanding of the intrinsic value of healthy living by promoting well-being physical activity. This is accomplished through the Wellness for Life course (PHED 050) and a variety of activity and team courses.
