Salem College alumnae are some of the best recruiters of new Salem students. One way that alumnae can help grow the Salem community is by locating prospective Salem students in their communities, talking to them about their Salem story, and encouraging them to visit campus. Each fall, the Admissions Office hosts a Legacy Day for alumnae to invite prospective students to visit campus with them and enjoy a tour and overview of the benefits of a Salem education.

Alumnae can also volunteer to be a part of the Alumnae Admissions Representative (AAR) Program. As an AAR, alumnae may be asked to help Salem in the following ways:

  1. Refer a prospective student to Salem College
  2. Attend college fairs in your community
  3. “Adopt a High School” in your area
  4. Contact applicants/parents via email, telephone or mail
  5. Host send-off parties for incoming and returning students
  6. Return to Salem to talk about your experiences during one of our visitation events and host a table at a closing luncheon
  7. Attend an awards’ day at a local high school to present a scholarship award to a new Salem student or a Salem College Alumnae Book Award to a recognized junior
  8. Write a letter about your career to prospective students (“Alumnae Success Letters”)
  9. Help Admissions Counselors with Salem Socials for prospective students

AARs are asked to dedicate up to 12 volunteer hours (if asked) to this effort during an admissions recruitment cycle (i.e. July 1 through June 30).
