100 in 2020 is a juried arts exhibition commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote. The exhibition is organized by Salem College, the oldest continuously operating educational institution for women in the United States. The goals of this exhibition are to build community and bring attention to women’s suffrage, women’s rights, women’s empowerment, and general voting rights.
Open to residents of North Carolina 18-yrs-of-age or older. College students (18 and over) attending any four-year or two-year accredited college or university in North Carolina are also eligible. Submit up to THREE pieces of artwork that meet the following criteria: 2D and 3D art in any medium (2D pieces do not have to be framed, but should be prepared for hanging); pieces must be less than 52” wide and/or weigh no more than 200 lbs; must be original work; created within the past 5 years; does not contain overt sexual or violent imagery. (We have limited space for 3D work and installation pieces. Please contact exhibit coordinator at 100in2020@salem.edu before submitting 3D pieces.) Salem College reserves the right to limit the number and nature of works accepted into the exhibit.
Artists must submit images of their artwork to the exhibit coordinator at
100in2020@salem.edu by Dec 15. Digital images will be juried. Digital images should be less than 5MB in size. Artists will be notified if their work has been accepted or declined on Jan 11, 2020. Accepted work must be delivered to Elberson Fine Arts Center (EFAC) at Salem College on the dates listed below. (All shipped works must be accompanied by a pre-paid return label if you want the pieces shipped back to you.)
Entry Deadline: digital entry of work - Sun, December 15, 11:59 pm.
Notification: notifications of accepted and declined works will go out by email - Sat, January 11 Deliver accepted work - Fri, Jan 31, 12-6 pm and Sat, Feb 1, 10 am-1 pm
Pick up art - Sun, April 25, 3-5 pm and Mon, April 26, 4-6 pm (or by appt)
Email your entry to 100in2020@salem.edu by the deadline. Include the requested information in the Call for Entries PDF with your digital images. (NOTE: Total size of attachments should be less than 5MB. If images are larger than 5MB, you may have to submit separate emails for each image.)
